Reminds me of something...

So I was thinking that the Capaldi costume photo reminded me of something. It came to me this morning, as I was lying in bed halfway between asleep and awake.

Girl...this was pretty much EVERYONE's initial reaction. There's a helluva lot of Pertwee going on here, and only half of it is the pose. But then, Pertwee was probably the Doctor that Capaldi best identifies with. He'd have been 4 when the show started, if I have my dates right, so 10 when Pertwee took over. Seems about right to me.

LOL Missed the boat, apparently! I think a Pertwee-esque Doctor will be an interesting take on it. There have been several Doctors following Troughton's mold, but not Pertwee.

I'm too sad about my dear Eleventy to be totally aboard the Capaldi train, but I'm sure I'll get there eventually.

Yeah, you seem to have been a bit under a rock for that one, but it's okay! We're glad you got here in the end. :)

Don't get me wrong--I ADORE Eleven and am still sad that we don't get more of him. Actually, I think this might be the most complicated regeneration for me, because as excited as I am for Capaldi...I want more Matt!! And, you know, you can't have both. :-\

LOL don't mind me -- I just follow the official BBC on FB. I'd rather keep fan stuff separate from the constant stream of ... whatever it is that FB is!

But still, I came by the comparison honestly!

I read somewhere that the Third Doctor is Peter Capaldi's Doctor so yeah it's not a coincidence I think!

I find Twelve's more intimidating-ish pose both scary and exciting. I'd definitely not mind a Three-ish Twelve, though. (Also it works well with Eleven's Two and I like symmetry, lol.)

I think that it's high time we had a Pertwee-influenced Doctor. Troughton had both Seven and Eleven. And Ten was a kind of mashup of Four and Five.

Oh, definitely time for some Three! Plus they keep saying Twelve will be Nine-ish... so Three and Nine mashup? Could be interesting. (Venusian Aikido, pls!)

And yess Eleven was very Seven... I almost like that more than the Two influence. It's a toss-up, though. *g*

Yeah, "Three!" was my first thought when I saw that costume. I'm wondering if they are intentionally going backwards (in the sense that Eleven's costume had elements of Two in it). I mean, beyond the idea that there's a little bit of every Doctor in...every Doctor.

I think it's just a performance decision made by Capaldi, under Moffat's overall guidance.
