Prompt: Concerns
Luka gripped the handlebars of his bike as he left his school. His mouth was tight with worry, lips set in a frown. He was worried about his Dad; even though his Papa and the rest of the family assured him Seth would be fine. Seth had grown weaker over the past three months since his pregnancy had been discovered. Luka knew he was resting and eating well, but still he worried. He remembered the memories Embry had shared with him of his Dad’s pregnancy with him…it had been horrible; he had nearly died in Jacob’s opinion. Turning down the dirt path toward Embry’s cabin he sped up a bit, anxious to talk to his imprint.
Luka found Embry in the clearing behind his cabin, sitting under a tree with a book open in his lap. Just the sight of his imprint calmed him slightly but his skin was still itching. Luka slipped out of his clothes and phased, the motion coming as natural as breathing now. He padded over to Embry and nosed at his arm with his muzzle. Embry marked his spot in his book with his finger and smiled.
“Hey Luka, what’s up baby?” Luka whined softly and lay down with his head in Embry’s lap, right on top of his book. “You’re worried about your Dad huh?” Luka licked Embry’s hand; his imprint always knew what was bothering him. “Seth will be fine, especially this time because they know how to help him.” Luka sighed and Embry started to scratch behind his ears and stroke his fur. They stayed like that for nearly an hour before Luka got up and went back to phase and put his clothes back on.
Luka came back and lay in the grass with his head resting on Embry’s leg. “I’m worried about Dad but…”
“But?” Embry prompted.
“There’s something else on my mind too.”
“And what’s that?”
Luka’s cheeks warmed. “Well, when we…when…y’know…” Embry tilted his head to the side in confusion. Luka swallowed hard. “When we have kids…will it be like that?”
“Ahh, hm.” Embry scratched his head as he thought about what to say. “I honestly don’t know Luka. We don’t even know which one of us will carry our kids…though I would assume it would be me since I have the stronger shifter gene. Even so though, your Dad is a special case. Leah and Jacob didn’t have any problems with their pregnancies…except for that last one for Jake. Plus, Carlisle is experienced with shifter pregnancies now so I don’t think we have anything to worry about.”
Luka reached for Embry’s hand, lacing his leather covered fingers with Embry’s. “I just don’t want anything to happen to you Em.”
“And I don’t want anything to happen to you either Luka.” Embry leaned down and pressed a kiss to Luka’s lips.
