WENDY AND LUCY -- highly recommended, small indie film with Michelle Williams. Very simple, no soundtrack, realistic account. No long dialogue, just pure naturalistic acting. Based on a short story by Jon Raymond that I have to check out (his collection too).*****

TOWELHEAD - Another realistic tale about suburbia, racism, and teen sex. A whole new take on the old theme of Lolita, female sexual awakening, and middle aged men succumbed by the nymphet syndrome. Poses the question: who is the seducer? The self-righteous liberal do-gooder busy body neighbors were annoying, though, only because we have all met these people, who like to get into other people’s private lives in the name of “doing good.” Endng had too much of a get in yr face feminist slant for me - I want to read the novel by Alicia Erian now.****

BEDTIME STORIES - Great idea, bad execution. Adam Sandler’s character is not cute but an asshole, you don’t like him at all. He does not come off as the outsider geek but as a sociopath. This is supposed to be a Cinderlla story but you don't root for the underdog at all -- you want him to go away. Movie felt like it was chopped a lot in editing. 1/2 *
