A Single Paradigm
A comment I made to Marc today about me having an 'eclectic' personality sparked an interesting discussion where he made a link I had failed to make that unities my selected Gothic tendencies (mainly music but also in taste in people and what he beleives to be an influence in clothing) with my long standing fascination with fantasy and mythology. Gothic culture is heavily influenced by medival culture, in clothing, ever increasingly in music and also in stylistic elements such as cd covers having mythological creatures and lyrics being fables. This is particularly the case with the Gothic metal I listen to which primarily uses female vocals and 'female vocalist gothic metal' seems to be branching into a sub genre by not only their unique sounds, but the multitude of new female-lead bands appearing with ever increasing frequency and popularity. In any case it was insightful of Marc to be able to place Gothic elements within a long present theme of my personality. It's interesting what you can learn from people and I know that Marc is one person in particular this year whom has influenced me in various ways - thus I maintain my long heald importance on friends and their ability to help us construct and define our world.
