Where have I been...?
Ah good question. Cape Cod. Not for like two weeks or anything but I was there for about four days and it was nice. Cold but nice. It was windy as hell and way too cold to go in the water but at least I got to go to Provincetown and go shopping and took pictures (which I will artfully alter at some point this weekend). I've also been spending a lot of time watching Tiki Bar TV and shopping for vintage tiki and bar gear. Today I this really nice vintage 1963 Trader Vic's cup came and is now the drink umbrella holder. I've got a tiki drink shaker coming, some 1950's metallic drinking tumblers and a copy of a 1948 Trader Vic's bartender manual on the way. In a few weeks I'm going to place a bit of an order with Tiki Farm to get a few mugs and the SHAG salt and pepper shakers.
Let's see, other than that nothing much has been going on. We're starting to do some planning for going back to California. Kevin has now told me that his work ISN'T going to pay for use to move back (basically he says he never said they would which he did say; actually he said Jamie said that so who knows what that actually means and who knows if he'll actually ask anyone if they'll cover some of the costs). So now we're about to re-sign a six month lease with the idea being that we'd be able to move back in like February or March when now, if he's not going to even look into the possibilities of his work paying for some of this who knows how long it will be for us to go back when he has taken to going to the grocery store on an almost daily basis and spending $40 at a time and his daily, sometimes twice a day, trips to Starbucks. When he asked why one of our tax return checks vanished so quickly (he thought I'd spent it) I showed him that it was all, LITERALLY, gas for the cars and him going to Stop and Shop and Starbucks and he didn't know what to say, though it hasn't stopped him from doing this stuff.
Anyway, I'm planning to do what I can to make this all happen in a timely fashion because I'd like to get back there and get out of here. Currently Kevin is discovering Second Life so now he might decide to just live in his second life where he can fly. How fun.
