My Photos So I went to PAX East on the 27th of March. My friends were already there enjoying themselves, while I arrived only for the Saturday events with my blue one-day pass in hand. Surprising there were no wait times entering the expo, then again the Three-Day passes were sold out, and I think the single-days were too. Just enter, pick up a swag bag and lanyard, enjoy the show. (Events shown are not in chronological order.)
"Games, games, games."
One of the first places I went to was the Exhibition Hall and see all the games on display. The set for Mafia II and Red Dead Redemption were closed up in a box, requiring you to wait in line. Behemoth was there, and I got my Alien Hominid GCN box and a Castle Crashers figureine signed by Tom Fulp there. Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands was there, didn't play it, but the gameplay looks excellent and I like the time freezing mechanic. I tried out a couple of games,
Gravitronix, a WiiWare game that is like Rampart, it plays nicely enough and looks like a good time waster.
Slam Bolt Scrappers by Fire Hose games is a very interesting game that twists up the Tetris and those Vs. Puzzle gameplay. You play as a what looks like an angel, beat up demons in the sky to turn them into multi-colored Tetris-style blocks. Create a square of a certain color and it'll turn into a cannon that'll fire into your opponent's field. It plays like a charm, and since it's 2-v-2, I'm glad that I got an excellent partner, and totally crushed the other team. Calling, a Japanese horror game on the Wii gave off a decent scare at least for me, though the turning seems stiff and the ghost grabbing parts, where you have to "shake" the ghosts off seems pretty dull. Finally, Bit.Trip Runner is a very fun Atari-style running platformer for WiiWare, and this is maybe the best one I've played. I know when this one hits WiiWare, I'll be getting that.
Oh yeah, in the class gaming room, VECTREX!
"I did this search and all I got is this stupid T-shirt."
For about an hour, I did a scavenger hunt for entering into a raffle, which I didn't win. But to be honest, I did it for the T-Shirt, which said "CRANK THAT S#!T UP!". I guess I wanted it, because that saying sounds so universal; in this case, it's for nVidia's graphic cards. There were six locations I had to go to, five of them was literally no more than 40-50 feet from each other, but the one mentioning a "3D Bad Company 2" tourney was on another floor. I had about ten minutes left before the Exhibition Hall closed at 6pm and I got it.
"Day with a Cosplayer"
For the majority of the day, I hung out with my friend Joey, who was dressed up as Ragna from BlazBlue, and his friend dressed up as a character from Tekken 2. I ended up helping them out, usually holding Joey's giant sword while he got into a couple of random dance offs. I didn't mind it at all, because I believe the con experiences are always better with friends. We were constantly stopped for photos, and it's a fresh perspective for me. I usually was the one doing the stopping and requesting, and this is the other way around. I also tend to be in the camera's way unintentionally, which led to moments of me duck and dodging the view of the camera. We met a really amazing Bayonetta cosplayer, and together they got some great photoshoots, the Bayonetta vs Ranga fight, or to some people not familiar with BlazBlue, Bayonetta vs DMC's Dante, because of his white hair and red coat. We also hung out with her and her friends. Some people know where I usually am in walking in groups, which is I usually travel the back row. Why I'm saying this? Because there were times where I thought I was going to step on her costume; and I'm glad I didn't, because it's a very nicely made costume. We then departed and went out separate ways.
We also bumped into another friend, John, and hung out with him as well in two separate occasions. One for lunch, and another at night. We pretty much spent the rest of the night enjoying the music of DJ Cutman and crashing on SUMO bean bags.
