I think what I want most for my family's future is a life that is, at its heart, stable, loving, and involved. When I say involved, I suppose what I mean is that I hope that my family, whichever people that may be, will always find themselves concerned with not only their own well-being and happiness, but the well-being of others.
I hope that my children will be involved with their communities, and find it rewarding to participate in projects that benefit others, like Habitat for Humanity, food drives, working with under-served students, or taking care of unwanted animals. I did many of these things throughout my childhood and youth, and I find that it is a habit instilled in me by my mother, which I know consider an important part of being a caring, worthwhile citizen and human being.
I also wish that my family, while they have a stable home to use as a comfort and a home base, will be unafraid of venturing into the world, whether it be to help others or to seek adventure through travel or other pursuits. I hope that I will have the ability to travel more in the coming years, and I think that it will greatly change me, as it always has in the past, and that this sort of completely new experience is a necessary part of human growth.
