So, as I told you, a lot of the kids wrote me farewell messages. Some kids cried. One first year wrote me this.
Dear Kelly,
Thank you for teaching English to us. Actually I can't speak English well. So I don't have any confidence in my English. But you understood my bad speaking. I'm glad to it. ("to" and "for" are really difficult for Japanese kids.)
Your classes are very fun, so I like English better than before. I am feeling sad because there are more messages which I want to write, but I can't write it well in English.
Well, on July 15th, I met you in the staff room. Do you remember that we talked there? (We did. I asked her how she was and she said, "Happy." Then I asked her why she was happy.) I said, "Because I have just seen my favorite idol." You said, "Who?" Then, I answered, "Secret." To tell the truth, my favorite idol is you! You are very beautiful and friendly. I like you very much. So I can't miss you. I want to see you another time. I wish you happiness in the future. Thank you.
From Yumi
I was so touched by her message. Another boy, Shiraishi (he does gymnastics), gave me a really cool keitai charm. His message was really short, "Thank you for everything," but he was so cute when he gave me his message. He's not so great at English, so we usually talk in Japanese. I'll miss him, and a lot of other kids, too.
Last night the school hosted a big party for me. We went to a beer garden in Beppu. Some teachers from this year, and teachers who left Kitsuki High School last year came to say goodbye. There were about 30 people there. The principal said some really nice things about me, and they gave me a necklace to remember everyone by. It's silver, in the shape of a 'K', with a little pearl inset. It is so cute, I really love it. We stayed out really late last night, talking and singing. I had a great time, and it was so good to see everyone again. It was a great night. :)
