Dearest Sara,

There is nothing wrong with being scared before an audition or before a song. Although his name escapes me, there was a famous broadway actor who acted for over 30 years of his life and every night before he went onstage, he would throw up from nerves.

And he succeeded, so so can you :-p

Yes, rejection will happen. And if it's something that you really don't think you'll be able to deal with, then I will honestly say dont' go for it. Your own mental health is more important than any profession. HOWEVER, there are other ways to look at rejection. There are so many actors out there, many of them who are talented. During an audition, there are soooo many other factors that go into things than just your actual audtion. Sometimes it even comes down to "who looks more like they could be related to whom?" Because of the many reasons, it's impossible to take a rejection personally. As long as you feel that you did a good job, then you did, and you move on and grow from it, even if you don't get the part.

As for majoring in Musical Theatre. If it's something you want to pursue, I'd like to talk to you about things to look for in schools, things that make a good program, what professors are looking for at department auditions, and the feel you can get for a school's work ethic and strength of program when you go to audition.

I'm gonna try and see the play. What nights are you performing?
