Wrong numbers and disbelievers...

Sep 07, 2006 19:18

What is it about wrong numbers that makes the people who called you, not believe they are mistaken?

Example 1
My caller ID has shown several calls from the Moy family. This family calls when I'm at work and no one is home, and they've also called very late at night. I've talked to them and they've asked for Lisa. When I tell them they have the wrong number, they say O.K. but then call again. Our last conversation went something like this

"George?"

"No, you have the wrong number."

"Is this the Grayson Family?"

"NO, you have the wrong number."

"This used to be the number. Are you related to them?"

"NO. THIS IS A LATINO FAMILY!"

"Fine."

Yet...they keep calling.

Example 2
On my cell phone, a lady will call every so often asking for Uli. I tell her she has the wrong number, she says "Oh" and yet...she keeps calling

Example 3
We noticed on our caller ID that we were getting calls from Chase Bank. We neither have an account nor a credit card with Chase, so we just ignored the calls figuring they were telemarketers.

It got to the point where they were calling every hour, on the hour, so we finally called them back. We gave them all of our info, and they said, "No, we don't have any business with you. We do, however, have a Ms. So-and-So who lists your phone number as her home number and we need to speak to her."

Chris said, "Well, we just told you this is our home and that person doesn't live there." Chase's reply was "Well, until Ms. So-and-So calls us and changes her contact info, I'm afraid we'll still have to keep calling here."

Honest to god, what a bunch of idiots!

The kicker, to remedy Example 3, we changed our phone number which led to calls by Example 1...
