Childhood and Marriage

Aug 05, 2006 10:30

So, the fantastic sdn had a post on her journal asking whether people bring their children to bars and while I replied that I go to bars to forget I have children, it also reminded of the fact that my dad used to take me to bars when I was a preschooler:

"When I was a kid -- about 4 or 5 -- my dad would take me to his local hangout bar. I'd sit on the bar and eat Vitner's potato chips and listen to old guys talk about baseball and Union stuff. It was pretty awesome. The owner's wife, this nice Polish lady with a thick accent, would keep giving me R.C.s to drink and stacks of those cocktail napkins that had puzzles on them."

Did your parents ever take you to unorthodox places as a child? Where?

In other news, today is my 6th wedding anniversary. My husband is a cool guy and a good father, so there.

Feel free to send me a dish washer, if you are so inclined...
