music recs!!!

Music is a HUGE part of my life, and idk it kinda sucks that none of my close friends share the same music tastes I do. So here is an attempt to share my favourite kinds of music in the hopes of maybe finding someone who likes these singers or bands :)  Well, this is about music other than kpop HAHA. Kpop doesn't really do it for me now, but I still listen to some occasionally.

Folk / Indie Bands
I got into folk bands around late 2013 and I am absolutely in love with the accordion!!! I actually considered learning how to play it, but an accordion costs more than 500 bucks and I have no idea where to get one? Sad hahaha. There's also this trumpet-like instrument that makes a very full sound (?). Sorry about the description. I have no idea what I'm talking about.

One of my favourite bands is Of Monsters and Men. You might have heard their most popular song, "Little Talks". Here is a video of them performing "Dirty Paws". I especially like videos of bands performing in public spaces haha. My favourite song would have to be "From Finner" just because of the lovely accordion noises :~)

Another band that I like is Beirut! I'm not a super huge fan though. I've only heard a couple of their songs. "Nantes" and "Postcards from Italy" really do it for me. I'm the kind of person that really likes it when there is good background music. A singer with a dark/dramatic/sad sounding voice is a plus!

Bastille is also a great indie rock band. I'm also not a super huge fan and I don't know the lyrics to half of their songs (don't kill me). But I do love the general sound of their music. I went to their concert two days ago and it was amazing. They sounded really good live. I don't think I'm the kind of person that /really/ enjoys going to those standing up concerts. I mostly go to listen to live music, not really to fangirl over the singers or bands. I also don't feel very comfortable jumping along and what not. I pretty much bopped around the entire concert. Some of my favourites are "The Draw", "Of The Night" and "Torn Apart".

Pop / Electronic

As you might already know, I adore Ellie Goulding. At least I can say that I can go to her concerts knowing the lyrics to her songs HAHA. Some of her music is still is hit and miss for me. I definitely have some songs I like over others. It's really hard to choose favourites, but hmm here's some.

Ellie Goulding has also introduced me to Years & Years, an up and coming electronica trio who recently was awarded BBC Sound of 2015. She was raving about them on her instagram. The smooth vocals + great beats are a good combination.

I recently got into listening to Marina and The Diamonds. Electra Heart was an alright album, but I'm looking forward to her upcoming album, Froot.

Oops. I think this post got too long. Before I end off, here are some other things I've been listening to:
Stromae: If you're into french language and really bomb ass beats, check out "Papaoutai". The track "Merci" was used as the background music for "Meltdown" which was on the Mockingjay Part 1 soundtrack.
Childish Gambino: Heard "Firefly" when I was watching Vagabond Youth on YouTube. I really like "L.E.S" and "Heartbeat".
If you're into opera-ish vocals and serious sounding melodies, maybe London Grammar or Florence + The Machine?
Also, the "Flawless" remix by Beyonce ft. Nicki Minaj!!
