good morning, quantum gibberish

I am already having a really good day, I haven't even left the house yet. I think it's a combination of allowing myself to leave yesterday's frustrations and worries behind and stretching. And listening to kxua. Mostly stretching, though, it's my favorite thing to do ever. I read for Italian some more this morning and half-way gave up on electron ( Read more... )

is this part of the theory that explains spontaneous combustion? or is that something else entirely?

yeah, I don't know about spontaneous combustion. as far as i know, theoretically, if one was forced into a state of superposition you'd just not be there, I mean, you'd exist in a superposition of infinite possibilities of states (i.e. I could be in Oklahoma or I could be in Texas, or Idaho, or Hawaii) (heh, "states"), but you'd not BE in any of those locations unless "forced" there by being observed. Ok, this isn't making sense, I can't explain what I mean. At any rate, it happens with things like electrons and photons (quantum entities), not really with cats or humans or soccer balls.

I was wrong earlier, the larger the object, the more likely you won't be in a state of superposition. Superposition is just the idea that something (an electron) COULD be in a number of different positions, but we don't know which position it will be in until we observe it. I'm bad at explaining this :/

oh yeah...i think they talk about that in "what the bleep do we know?"...have you seen that movie? it's kind of cheesy and kind of sucks compared to other movies i've seen on the topic, but there's a good visual in there for that.

so crazy!
