end of the road
Time for the annual year-in-review thing. I actually wrote this out on Christmas Eve, but my computer froze and I lost the entire entry. So I finally gathered up enough energy to do it again. Yay!
Personal life -- Living in the dorm taught just how much I missed the chaos and domestic craziness of my home. I still squabble with the parental figures occasionally, but I definitely appreciate them coming to take me home every Friday. Still don't have a budding social life yet, but at least I've kinda-sorta got the quarter system under control. I ended my very first college quarter with two A's and two B's, and I'm so freaking cool with that.
Love life -- Eh. Still have four more years for my bachelor's, and then some for my master's. Not like I'm going to shrivel up anytime soon.
Fic writing: I actually didn't write much this year until school started. Then I kept churning out lots of drabbles and a few fics. I dove head-first into the new RoaL universe, which is apparently the new color of the JLU fanfiction scene. Evil Shayera is very fun to write.
Actual fics:
"Mirror, Mirror" was my written yearning for season 1 Justice League. Those were simpler times, like xffan said, before events like Starcrossed, OAFT, and Ancient History.
"Clarity" was written just because I had to tell John's side of the story during Mirror, Mirror. Like I said, I miss season 1 JL.
"Pariah" was pretty much pulled out of my ass at the last minute. I just couldn't get Kaede's voice right until the very end. But I still love the story, because I wrote it frantically in one day.
DRABBLES:
I actually wrote primarily drabbles this year. They're all collected in seperate littles series' that I wrote throughout 2006.
"DCAU Secret Valentine Drabbles": Honestly, I probably could have thought of a better title, but all the good Rex/Merina ones were taken. This was one of my first ventures into the R Verse, and I'm very proud of this set.
"This Thing Called Family" involves Rex, Merina, and for the first time, Arthur. Some were really easy to write, like "Picture Perfect", and others I re-wrote like ten times, such as "Debt". Missy knows this for a fact. =). "Futuresight" is my personal favorite.
"Award-Winning" is the most recent series, as it takes place in the newly minted Role of a Lifetime verse. I watched 'Divided We Fall' several times, mostly for the scene where John bashes Lord Shayera senseless into the ground. And then there was the speed forest scene, which inspired "Loss" and "Nightmare". Both of those were fun and angsty to write.
Guilty pleasure fic: Mirror, Mirror
Favorite fic: "Award-Winning" series
Fic I am most proud of: Pariah, because it was the hardest to write
Most daring fic: Nothing, really. I wrote more daring stuff last year, like "Wife" and "Fidelity".
The favorite character to write with this year: evil Lord Shayera!
THINGS TO DO IN THE UPCOMING YEAR: Write some more RoaL stuff, finish my second and third quarters unscathed, lose weight, blah blah blah.
New Year's Resolutions 2007
1. Lose 8 pounds
2. Get at least three A's in winter and spring quarter
3. Write two JL fics
4. Get bangs to cover my gigantic forehead
5. Stop yelling at my dog when she barks too much. Understand that she's a dog, and probably doesn't understand what the hell I'm so upset about.
6. Stop referring to my ex best friend as either a stupid cow or a whorish piece of shit. Let bygones be bygones and all that.
7. Develop even better study habits (this does not include watching JL episodes on YouTube while reading for a class)
8. Control my temper
9. Stop obsessing over little details
10. Stop making unrealistic resolutions
