a day of days
today deserves an entry.
this morning barrie died. barrie was 64. he was the accountant and credit controller at my work. he went downstairs for a cigarette every 1/2 hour, drank bourbon every night and ate all the wrong foods. he loved betting on the horses and having a good chat. better known around the office as a 'grumpy old bastard' but he was cool. i used to go down every morning with him and 'have a cigarette' well he was the one who would smoke and i'd talk to him. he'd tell me all about the places he'd been and tell me that i could be anything i wanted. when i resigned he came to me and gave me a kiss and said to me 'all the best with your future darlin' and keep in touch'. when i went back to work i didn't see him so much cos of my new position. anyway he went on holidays a week ago. yesterday he had a heart attack and was rushed to hospital...today he died. irony - we just hired a trainee two weeks ago to take over his place when he retired next year.
the rest of the day was fairly normal.
today was stacey's 18th birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! she also announced that she is engaged to ambrose. YAY!! a really exciting and happy ending to a not so good day. i get to be her maid of honour! they are getting married in january 2005.
