Beyond Embarrassing

Bob needed his passport for a business trip next Monday. He was leading a team of eight up to Canada to tour several facilities. On Wed., I went to the bank to retrieve his passport. It was not in the safe deposit box!

Bob attacked his frightening top dresser drawer. It HAD to be there! It was not. We looked everywhere: tore through drawers, cabinets, moved furniture, on hands and knees in the closet, under the beds, through the pockets of clothes he might have been wearing on his last Canada trip, digging into his computer case and jackets. No where!

We both lost sleep over it, him more than me no doubt. He called it, "Beyond embarrassing." Poor guy.

I found an on-line site for replacing lost or stolen passports within 24 hours, which is misleading because it doesn't account for the day it takes to gather everything (birth certificate, passport pictures, forms) overnight them, have them processed, get it back. Maybe there was a slight outside chance it could work, but Bob was so busy Thursday he couldn't squeeze out the time it would take to put it together. He resigned himself to the humiliation.

Today, he found out that he is needed more urgently in Vegas on Monday, so he will not be going to Canada after all!!! Only one person at the office knew the truth, and now he is spared the public embarrassment.

Lucky guy.
