Autumn is my favorite season for a number of reasons, one of them being new fall shows. There are two that I am checking out right now, and of the two, I only think one is going to make it.
The first one, Blindspot, I personally love. I think it’s got a decent following already, but we’ll see. Some are saying it’s a rip off of two shows that used to be on the air, but since I never watched those two shows, this feels new and refreshing to me. I look forward to the next episode, which is something that’s often rare with me (these are usually the shows I have to binge watch because I hate waiting a week for a new episode). I like the acting, I like the suspense, I like the action … the only thing I am not liking is how quickly and easily she infiltrated the FBI.
Lets be a little honest here. If this were to happen IRL, there is NO WAY they’d allow her anywhere near her own investigation, but they would use her for the tattoos. Now, I get it, it’s TV, so to have her more than just a body to the show, they’re attempting to ease her into the team. I just think there should have been a lot more people against it and questioning this than the one dude. That’s the only thing that was making me roll my eyes and thinking, “Really?”
Now that we’re kind of past that, I’m sure the show will be a bit smoother (hopefully).
The second show I’m watching and enjoy, but don’t think it will get a second season, is Rosewood. It’s about a self-employed medical examiner who sells his services to the Police. When a new detective arrives in town and is on a case Rosewood wants on, he charms his way onto the case and into the detective’s life. I think it’s cute. The detective (played by Jaina Lee Ortiz) is meh. Maybe she’ll grow on me, but she is leaving much to be desired with her below Morris Chestnut’s acting. He… is funny, interesting, and believable, which is very unlike her. I hope her character grows a bit more and becomes less annoying in the episodes to come, but I don’t know if it will pull people in.
It’s kind of like Bones, but instead of an anthropologist tagging along it’s a medical examiner (and I hope they eventually explain how he can have such fancy gadgets and work for himself-and didn’t even realize it was a thing, figured all were state hired). So the idea has been done, it’s a matter of can they pull in viewers with their acting/cases (and so far the cases are a little lacking …but it is a brand new show).
I am almost positive Rosewood will not get a season two, I am not even creating a tag for it.
I know there are a lot of new shows out right now (and some starting soon), and I might check out some others soon.
