no more lonely nights.

I ran to him and threw my arms around his neck; when he straightened up my feet were a couple inches off the floor. I didn't need to tell him that I had missed him. He put me down but I didn't let go; on the contrary, I buried my face in his neck and held him closer.
My hands explored his familiar well-muscled shoulders, and I started giggling. "What's so funny?" he whispered in my ear.
I pulled back to give him a suggestive look, and let my hands wander to his biceps. "So, what caliber are these guns?" I asked with a wink. I'd come up with that when we were teenagers, young and in love.
I felt his rumbling laugh reverberate in his chest as he pulled me close again. "Oh, I missed you so much."
"I know," I said, speaking into his shoulder. "I missed having someone to keep the bed warm."
"Oh, that's all?" he asked skeptically. When I nodded into his shoulder again he tickled my sides until I begged him to stop. "No more lonely nights. I promise." He gently pressed his lips to the top of my head, and I sighed, content.
