Well... this will by no means be a complete update on our travels- but here is a baby update to keep you....well, updated. haha-. So, Saturday morning, at a ridiculous time-- Pamela and I bundeled ourselves out the door with all our bags and blankets and caught the bus to Amsterdam. Welll, first we missed the bus into the center of Nancy, got a train to Metz, then waited for the bus to Amsterdam to arrive for one hour ...two,....three... and then we decided we need some facts. We tried to ask the people inside the bus stop what could possibly have happened! Did it arrive early and we miss it? Was it in an accident adn wasn't coming? We just wanted to know what the hold up was and if we should try to find an alternate method of getting north. The office for Eurolines wasn't open and we the other people "Didn't know anything!!!!" The only thing they could tell us was that it was always late-- up to two hours late! Well, we had arrived an hour early (almost) as the ticket specified and so it was now two hours late. ...and then the bus pulled in. It was a stressfull start to the trip and I just wanted to run home and go back to bed. But eventually we arrived in Amsterdam. I was (and still am a little bit) convinced that the city hates us. We arrived, got to the main station and then could not for the life of us get in contact with our couchsurfer host! It was not fun. We could not get the payphones to work- and then the number was very confusing, we couldn't find the tram, then didn't know if the couch host would actually meet us because when we finally called her we got cut off after ten seconds. sigh. but it all turned out in the wash... anyway--- next day we took a three hour "Freetour" that the city povides and that was fun, though it rained a lot,.. adn I didn't have my umbrella or a coat because we thought it was warm weather...but it wasn;t! haha. hmm...ok highlight mode- then we met up with out couchhost again- Van Gogh museum, grocery store, home to relax.
Yesterday was fun too--- hung out for an hour or so with our first couch host - Chantal- had reallly american coffee- got pulled over by the police on the way, went to some museums, saw the anne frank house, the "homomonument", did some shopping, saw the Vondelpark "Fondlepark", then met our new couchsurfer Gabriele, made dinner and thats it...
Todayyyy--- not muchh-- we were going to go to the tulip exposition-- which i was reallly super jazzed about, but it ended up being way more expensive than we could willingly pay.... so, now we are just wandering around the city -- doing some window shopping /amusing ourselves. Its been pretty pleasant so far- and tomorrow we head out to Copenhagen. Which I think will be awesomeeeee
