ai ai ai-- what a day!

I got pretty upset today--- my students do not respect me at all.  and by not at all, I mean, 0%.  Its really frustrating.  Last week I spend the entire class period explaining in English, and then in French when they didn't understand- the oral presentations that were supposed to start this week.  They were to present an American city in pairs- 4-5 minutes long.  I gave them several topics that they should cover, like location, climate, nicknames, etc. It was extremely clear what the assignment was.  Then- queen of overinformation that I am- I stopped each pair that was supposed to be presenting today and double checked that they knew their presentation was today.  Today.  out of the four 'exposés' that were assigned- one was ignored, one was done (by which imean they read off the wikipedia article, one was 'forgotten at home', and the last was 'supposed to be next week'.    Words can not describe how frustrated and disappointed I am.  I'm not even angry.  Its just nearly impossible to teach anything when they refuse to accept that you have any authority to teach them.  Impossible.

Students are a tricky bunch..  adn they're at that age.  you know what age-- THAT age.  haha,.  but seriously- they are all "MUST REBEL!!!" and its endearing and obnoxious all at the same time.  I think if I was an actual teacher-- not just the 'assistant' then it would be a lot better-- also if I had some training in teacher- yikes!   That might be key.  I dont really know how to teach things-- and actually thats not even my job.  Essentially my teachers just say-- your job is to expose the students to english in its natural form--- even if you're just yelling at them-- as long as its in english -- good for you.  so. thats no help.

ahh

today is super tuesday.
