Hope everyone had a great New Year, and best wishes for the next twelve months ahead! May they not suck so profoundly as they did in 2010. As for myself, I spent the night with family (didn't sleep through it -- hurrah!) and it was just... nice. Or bland. But passable. The bubbly was good, anyhow :)
Does anyone still make resolutions? I stopped somewhere around my junior year in high school since I had a terrible habit of breaking them almost instantly. After a while, I came to the conclusion that I would have avoided whatever it was I resolved not to do had I not made the resolution in the first place. *sigh* So I cut that out and started giving myself one realistic, achievable goal for the year. Doesn't matter if I have half a dozen things I desperately want to get done, my New Year's goal has to be the one that surpasses them all.
This year, my goal is to finish the novel I've been working on sporadically since last year. It began as my '09 NaNoWriMo project, then I soon realized this ridiculous thing actually had a plot and could go somewhere. It's turned out to be incredibly plot heavy, more so than anything else I've done, which means the writing process has been slower moving than congealed molasses.
Nevermind my crippling case of writer's block. Getting this monstrosity done is my goal for this year, even if I must sit and stare at a blank screen and curse the cursor until I lose my breath. I did manage to write a whopping 179 words the other day, so yeah, hope springs eternal.
Happy New Year :)
