Birthday
Today I turned 34. It being Friday I had to work, which is rather a drag on one's birthday, but it has still been a very joyous day.
faeryshaman woke with me this morning, shared coffee with me, and presented me with an absolutely gorgeous book that she made especially for me. It's bound in soft blue leather printed with one of my favorite alchemical woodcuts and has mysteriously hand-painted end-papers, an amazing spring-back binding, and a closure of cord and quartz crystal. I'm not sure what I am going to use it for yet, but it is a marvelous gift that I am immensely thankful for.
At lunch, following a bit of confusion and hassle, the cable repair guy (oddly enough,
pandara's ex-husband Paul) got my cable internet service problems worked out. I also received a couple of small books that I had ordered a couple weeks ago, something of a birthday present for myself.
This evening I came home to find that
faeryshaman had baked me a wonderful chocolate birthday cake decorated with blue designs and blue candles. It was so wonderful to be gifted with beautiful and delicious things that she has crafted by hand with love...
