as scribbled down during Radio:
Funeral Director:
Pros: Working with people, acting as a counselor, life might begin to resemble the show Six Feet Under
Cons: Working with (dead) people, acting as a (grief) counselor, life might begin to resemble the show Six Feet Under
also see: Grim Reaper (substitute Six Feet Under with Dead Like Me)
Why is it that so much of people's life/career goals are determined, or linked to the shows they watch? Aspiring Social Workers love Judging Amy (when i used to watch it, i was considering that kind of line of work.) Lawyers like Law and Order or the Pratice. Doctors/nursing majors and Grey's Anatomy. Pre-med students considering plastic surgery are addicted to Nip Tuck. Do we choose media because of our interests, or does the media we watch shape our interests?
if it is the latter, is the way to figure out my life by watching a more specialized series of shows? (I.e. only Scrubs/ER/Grey's Anatomy/Nip Tuck?) Do I lack direction because i don't consume enough television? Books won't do, because most of the protaganists i am attracted to in literature are directionless or unhappy in their chosen vocation.
sub question: what does it mean that so much of my desired visual(and other) media involves death/tradgedy?
