The tale of the butterball...
Today we went to our 32wk doc appt. My blood pressure was much better than last time, weight gain has been right where the doctor wants it and Elly's heartbeat was perfect! The interesting news revolves around how big Elly is. At the end of June I had an ultrasound and Elly was weighing in at 3lbs, which put her at above average weight. Then today (only about a month later) Elly is weighing in at around 6lbs!!! During the ultrasound, it was hard to get a quick measurement of her femur, because her legs are crunched up....SHE IS OUR ADORABLE LITTLE BUTTERBALL!
After the ultrasound, our doctor said that will be having us go down to the OSU high def ultrasound place around 36wks to check Elly's weight so that they will have a better understanding of how much she will weigh at full term. Then she tells us that if I carry to term it is quite likely that Elly will weigh close to 10lbs and then we would have to schedule a c-section for 39wks!!!!! WOW She said between now and then, they will not induce me unless an emergency occurs, so one of two things will most likely happen. A: my body will go into labor on its own before 39/40wks and I could deliver vaginally, or B: I will carry to 39wks and they would most likely do a c-section because she would be big.
J is not happy about the idea of a c-section. I told him that I have prepared myself for the idea of having vaginally and c-section, so I will not be going blindly into anything. And on the positive side, a scheduled c-section makes it a little easier on me-I would know beforehand unless some emergency came up.
BUT, I feel that she will be here before the due date. I don't see myself carrying her until 39wks. I keep thinking that I will go into labor on my own around the end of August/beginning of Sept!!!!!!
Yesterday, we had the baby shower. The turn out was excellent and J and I are very grateful. We got pretty much everything that we need. Furniture, clothes, bouncy, travel system, diapers......etc! There are only a couple of things we MUST pick up. Have to, HAVE TO, get a diaper genie or the house will stink and we need to get some sort of high chair thing (which I found a convertible one at walmart for $20!!!) But that is it. It was funny, this morning J was looking at the HUGE basket of clothes and said that he wished everyone had not gotten her so much pink....LOL! He said that there is nothing wrong with purple and green, then he said the next baby better be a BOY! .....Slow down there bucko!
Anyways, that is it for now. I am trying to take it easy. I have had sharp pains since Friday. The doctor said that unless they are coming in regular intervals, then not to worry. She thinks they are stress induced....blah.
