I dislike the summertime and dislike having a cold during the summertime even more. Now before I crash into bed (at 7pm no less) I figured I would make a post.
Just got done with week two of the summer camp. In short, the camp has been awesome and is giving me tons of experience both with working with middle school age students and also with actually teaching my area of concentration....science!!!!
Today has been a pretty good day (if I overlook the beginning of a nasty cold). Every morning I have to get up at 5am and get to camp before 7am. During my drive I listen to a local country station because I enjoy hearing their morning show. It seems like all the other morning shows on other stations are nasty (gross) or just plain stupid. Well for the last couple of days, this station has been giving away sneak peak preview tickets for the newest Harry Potter movie. I called yesterday and only got a busy signal. Today I heard the announcement and remembered that I had the # already in my phone so I decided to call, got a busy signal but tried again and again and on the lucky third time I GOT THROUGH!!!! So I am the lucky winner of 4 tickets to the preview showing that will be happening this Monday. The funniest part of this story has to do with me informing Jim. As soon as I got off the phone with the DJ, I called Jim (keep in mind he has been working till midnight and does not get to bed until 1am, and this was like 6:45am) I call him and he finally picks up and sounds super sleepy. I excitedly explain that I won tickets and he says back in a super sleepy tone, "uhh...YOU GOT A TICKET....WHAT...HOW'D THAT HAPPEN" and then I said, "NOOOOOO I WON TICKETS...." and he said something like, " ohhhhh that's great". LOL
Anyways. I am very glad that I have two days off, hopefully by Monday I will feel better. Next week is going to be pretty busy. My students have LOTS of stuff to get done on Monday and Tuesday (preparing for the Math and Science fair), we are all going to Kings Island on Wednesday (yay for a 2hr bus ride with no air conditioning), clean up and prep on Thursday, and finally our closing ceremony and math and science fair on Friday at the Ohio Historical Society.
After camp is over, I will be working full-time at the center for much of the rest of my summer off from school and then will go down to part-time once September hits (autumn quarter starts Sept 19th!!!).
Like I said, busy busy busy.
Guess that is it for now. Gonna hunt down some cold medicine and GO TO BED YAY!!!!
Adios.
