i break this radio silence for a few reasons.
first, it is autumn, and this makes me content. most people love to be outside in the summer; for me, it's this time of year where i can't resist the outdoors. it's musky and cool out, and i know soon it will be pumpkin-carving and cider-making time. nothing beats it.
second, i saw charlotte martin twice last week. thursday night she was in vienna at jammin' java; friday night she was in easton at nightcat. she did four shows for her mad fast acoustic tour, and i was really lucky to be able to attend half of them. here are the set lists:

both nights had huge highlights, but i think what i'll remember most is the tiny coffee house she played in easton. talking to matt duke and asking him to play tool for my husband. watching marc appreciate, for the first time really, the remarkable talent of charlotte. staying late afterwards and chatting with her about "a baby story" and her dogs. i haven't met many people who possess a talent that leaves me thoroughly in awe, and still radiate nothing but warmth and love as a human being. she is one of them. days later i feel my mood still elevated after spending those evenings with her, and in the company of my sis and hubby. they were a perfect way to welcome autumn to 2009.
