miscellany
this will probably be my last post before the new year. as another chapter closes, here are some miscellaneous statistics about this blog, which has been one of the few constants in my life. here's looking forward to 2009.

guessed anyone but you 05-06-08 there was a time once where all i needed was to sit in a boy’s car and feel youth’s recklessness behind the wheel to be swept away. it wasn’t love as much as freedom; it wasn’t about him as much as it was about me. the adrenaline of flying down a twisted country road with a guy that makes you feel nervous and electric is hard to beat. you’re headed somewhere together, physically and metaphorically, but in that moment it doesn’t matter where you end up; it’s just about enjoying the ride. in this instance, i’m remembering one particular boy. i remember writing our names inside a heart on the fogged glass of your sunroof, holding hands, and both of us smirking because we knew it would never be. i remember years later when that beloved car was smashed to pieces with you inside, and you told me that glass was the one piece you wanted to save. you and i were never more than a shattered smudge, but i miss who we were then-just in those moments. the endings were never as sweet as those times when my hair was whipping the flesh of my neck and if i closed my eyes i felt like i was soaring.
