Fandom peculiarities

Jan 11, 2011 17:03

Instead of being truly productive yesterday, I only reorganized part of my moving boxes (still need more, god how much STUFF do I have?) and finished reading the first of many many papers I have to read before starting applying for jobs (yeah don't remind me) uhm yeah. Mind you I started reading that before Christmas. Yes, I am ashamed of myself.

Anyway, what I also did was skimming over an anon kink meme.

My.

I mean.

Quite aside from the fact that most of what is considered kink these days I never would have pinned as such... Quite a bit of that stuff wasn't even completely horrible. (Mind you, I have a reason why I'm not overly involved in fandom since around my X-Files times when I found out that being overly involved is not what I want and thankfully fandom was small and German then so I could get out.) Anyway, thing is, I've come across fulfilled prompts (on AO3 for example, or elsewhere), but I've never bothered about the actual memes, neither reading nor participating. So I was actually surprised.

And I was even more surprised to find myself reading mpreg(!!!) and not being completely horrified by it.

Imagine my surprise.
