it's been a day dictated by a stupid mistake for me. it started this morning after breakfast when i heard a loud pounding noise outside. i went to investigate and found my father in the process of breaking up the asphalt on our driveway with a large pick axe. it looked kinda fun, sort of a scene from an old chain gang movie, so in my stupidity i asked if i could try. sure i could. it ended with me being drafted by force to clear the remainder of the driveway and also help the old man with carrying 20 kilo stone slabs to cover the ground with. now i can't move my arms very much. for god's sake! i'm a scholar, not a manual laborer!
yesterday i was supervising an excursion with the foreign exchange students from arrival day. for the greater part it was ok, even though i never imagined a busload of 20 - year olds (or thereabout) could be such a hassle. never on time, constantly changing buses and complaining about everything. well, at least i did meet some cool people too. for some reason, the nice people were either chinese, japanese, indonesian, german or american. so cudous to your countries for teaching you the importance of manners. well, at least i hadn't the same problem as my colleague riding with the other bus - he managed to "lose" two students at the first stop. they never showed up again, even though we did an extensive search. wonder what happened to them, and i'm ever so grateful they weren't my responsibility.
will go and lay down now. my arms and back are killing me.

life
