Magic

I had a thought that man has not yet divorced himself from magic. There are still magicians in the world, working all different kinds of magic. There is a kind of magic to be found when the astronomer points to the sky and says, "There will be a meteor shower there tonight." And lo, it comes. Of course it comes. The man communes with the stars. He reads its paths as certainly as any astrologer, and if the stars do not rule us, that is of no matter, for the stars are grand and bright. There is a magic at work every time a curtain draws and the illusion prances on stage. Did not theatre start out as prayers and rituals to the Gods? When one capers on stage, does not one bring forth humanity in the abstract for us to view? A thing viewing itself. That is, itself, a great magic. Magic is EXCITING.
