signs and omens

the last two days going to work, I observed these two signs:

yesterday: where the sidewalk meets the concrete running up to a windowless building, there grew little sprigs of green. it was some clover like thing, springing out of the tiniest crack and surviving against all odds. a woman in a drab uniform was bent over the growth, methodically ripping it out. I assume it was for some perverse aesthetic reason.

today: a man, obviously a homeless man by his manner of dress, stood beside a tall bush at the intersection of two roads where a little bit of greenery was allowed to grow in a corner. the bush was covered in little red berries, which the man was methodically picking and popping in his mouth. judging by the speed of his harvest, I would say he had been at it for a while, and that he would certainly make a small of meal out of it.

derive from that what you will.
