I scared myself thinking: you can't naturally win at anything, all the time. it's impossible to casually be the best, even though that image is something I'd love to have. to nonchalantly always be on top.
(because if he can beat me with his bad hand, what could he do with his good one?)
that's what my dad would do when us boys were kids. he'd play pool with us, but he'd switch hands so we had a chance, and he still always won. he was an amazing pool player...won tourneys and all that jazz. he was real big into it. I remember being 10 and in a bar with him, and some fella wanted to play for money. my dad had me go sit down, but he didn't even switch back. he beat this guy like he beat his ten year old son, offhandedly. I was terribly impressed.
but after a few years of playing I got pretty damned good, and I asked my dad to switch. I won, and we haven't really played pool together since. especially not with his good hand. after that I got pretty lame at it...I never really take the time with my shots. if I fuck up, chalk that up to not caring. if I win, that just goes to show you how good I can be.
it's a really, terribly scary personality trait that I'm going to have to work on. (but not too hard).
