1. Damage

Mike was supposed to be here for therapy instead he was in the bathroom staring at the mirror. The huge gouge on the left side that worked from eye to chin seemed more pronounced than ever. He was damaged. Still staring at it he ran a finger tentatively down it. The raised edges and sunken center brought up a feeling of disgust so profound he hated Butterfly for thinking he was attractive. How dare she? He was flawed now. He could still hear the women on set after the accident. Arlene was one of those women. She was a model or trying to be. She was one of those vain whores that turned on him.

Mike pressed his fingers to the scar until it hurt. He hated it but it was who he was now. He was “That guy with the scar”. Mike turned his back to the mirror and took a deep breath. He wanted to kill. He wanted Butterfly to die so he could go back to being ugly and disgusting to everyone. He couldn’t ground himself anywhere. He just needed away.

The thought of the female shrink sent him out the front door to his car. Once inside he sat with his hands tightly on the wheel. His eye was focused on the wall he knew her desk was behind. Just one press of the gas pedal, one accident, one death and he’d feel better. There would be something more damaged than he was.
