My week is over...
...And I have decided to keep Vongole after all.
She still requires a great deal of training, of course. But I have managed to divert her chewing to appropriate objects, and have trained myself not to feed her from the dinner table. Her crate training hasn't gone quite as well... I try to be a stern keeper for her, but her little bed fits so well into that one corner of my bedroom I always meant to fill with a plant of some sort... However, I have been strict about keeping her out of my office. For the last week I have been conducting business out of my home, and she stays in her crate during that time. I believe I've been successful in teaching her that my home office is not a place she's allowed to enter.
I have an appointment tomorrow to have her chipped and registered. I think from there I'll take her to the dog park that I've heard so much about. It sounds intensely refreshing.
