[lol foreshadowing]
Kristoph: *Kristoph comes to the office early that morning. Not that he's expecting it to be particularly busy; he wants to make sure everything is in order before Apollo arrives. After setting his things aside he steps into the next room that his assistant has been using as an "office" for the past several weeks. Until now's looked like more of a storage room, but the addition of a new desk and wooden shelving units has given it a fresh, professional feel. Once Kristoph is pleased with how it's set up he returns to his desk to start the morning paperwork and await his employee.*
Apollo: *Apollo usually wakes up early in the morning in order to get to the office early, and today is no different. He parks and chains his bike to the restaurant front a couple of buildings over and walks from there, setting a quick pace; he likes getting to work before Mr. Gavin. When he gets there, though, he notices that there’s a figure already sitting behind Mr. Gavin’s desk. He becomes rather panicky, thinking that he’s late* Mr. Gavin? Am I late?
Kristoph: *Kristoph looks up and smiles.* No, not at all. I came in a little early today. *He waves him inside and rises up from his desk.* There's something I want to show you.
Apollo: *Apollo’s jittery heart calms down a bit at the reassurance and he smiles.* Oh. *At the gesture, he ventures inside.* Something to show me, sir?
Kristoph: I did promise you a pay raise, but it just didn't seem like congratulations enough. *Kristoph opens the side door and motions for Apollo to go ahead of him.* I hope you like it.
Apollo: It’s more than enough, sir, I- *He peers into the usually dingy room that has always been called his “office”, and his face lights up.* You didn’t have to, Mr. Gavin. *He goes inside and looks around at the new features, sort of at a loss for words.* It looks so…professional.
Kristoph: You are a professional now, after all. *Kristoph follows him inside, pleased by his reaction.* When you start taking clients, you'll need somewhere to properly meet them. Besides, it's the least I can do after making you work in this closet of a room for so long!
Apollo: I suppose I am… *He reaches up absently to touch the attorney’s badge fastened to his vest; he hasn’t taken it off since he received it.* Clients? *He pales a bit.* Well, this is the better than any pay raise! Not that I don’t appreciate that, too, sir. *Apollo is slightly embarrassed now, and continues to determinedly examine everything in the room.*
Kristoph: *Kristoph chuckles.* Not that I want you to get carried away. Even with a badge it will be a while before you're able to build a client list of your own. But from now on you'll be able to join me behind the bench during cases, rather than have to sit up in the gallery.
Apollo: *Apollo immediately stops his examination and turns to watch his mentor's face.* R-Really, sir? That will be great, like being right in the action. And I'll get to see you working first hand.
Kristoph: Yes, and it should get your face out as well. Getting noticed is the first step. *Kristoph prepare the morning coffee while he talks.* Once you've sat in on a few of my cases, I'll start recommending clients to you. Simple cases at first, of course. You wouldn't want your first trial to be a full murder would you?
Apollo: Ah, no. I don't think I would.*Apollo notices the coffee and starts a little bit.* Would you like me to make that for you, sir?
Kristoph: No, it's all right. Don't worry, I still remember how. *He gestures towards the desk.* Sit down, try it out. If you want to rearrange anything on it or in the room, you're welcomed to.
Apollo: *Apollo sits.* Yes, sir. *He opens his pack and takes out a variety of papers, then begins to arrange them in the large file drawer on the left side of the desk.* I can't thank you enough, Mr. Gavin.
Kristoph: It was the least I could do. *Kristoph finishes fiddling with the coffee maker and turns towards him again.* I had a desk just like that when I started out.
Apollo: *Apollo smiles widely and looks up.* Really, sir? I promise to take good care of it, and I can be much more organized this way.
Kristoph: I'm sure you will. *He smirks as he turns toward the door.* Just be careful that you don't do too much fist pounding along with your voice training.
Apollo: *He stands straight up as Mr. Gavin turns to leave.* Don't worry, sir! I only practise the Chords of Steel at home.
Kristoph: *He chuckles again.* I'll let you get settled. I have some paperwork to get through today, so let me know if you need anything.
Apollo: Yes, sir! *Apollo hastily gets back to work, sorting and organizing the things in and on his desk, stopping every now and again to gaze fondly around the room.*
