[Scene] The Bros make up

[Backdated like whoa D:]

Klavier: *After dropping Ema off at her home, Klavier heads back towards his own condo. Idling at a stoplight, the prosecutor looks over to a nearby building; recognizing Kristoph's car in the parking lot. Realizing the building is a veterinarian's office, a sense of dread comes over him -- what's Kris doing at the vet? What happened to his puppy? Without a second thought Klavier turns to pull into the small parking lot, parking beside Kristoph's car and heading inside the building*

Kristoph: *The bell above the clinic door jingles, but Kristoph doesn't look up. He's been forcing himself to read the entire time he's been waiting, even if it's a wasted effort; the words keep blurring together as his imagination turns. Every time he turns a page - without having actually read what was on it - he glances at his thumbnail, thinking that it ought to be filed. But he wisely forced himself to leave his usual pocket kit at home for fear that he would spend the entire duration of the surgery grinding his fingers down to nubs. Exhausted, he stretches his legs and then crosses them again.*

Klavier: *Spotting where his brother is seated, Klavier makes his way across the waiting room and leans down a bit in front of Kristoph, his hands on his hips* What is wrong with my puppy?!

Kristoph: *Kristoph starts, his head snapping up - thinking it's the vet. Seeing Klavier in front of him is so unexpected that he forgets they haven't seen or spoken to each other for weeks now.* Klavier? What are you doing here?

Klavier: *Klavier gestures to the door with his head* I was driving by and I saw your car out front. What is going on?

Kristoph: *Kristoph stares down at his book as he takes more time than necessary to mark the page, trying to hide his concern.* Vongole is here to get spayed. It's a very common procedure, with very few risks. *He sounds as if he's quoting someone.*

Klavier: Ohhh. *Klavier smiles, quite relieved. He'd entirely forgotten that Kristoph was getting her spayed this weekend. He takes a seat next to his brother* Oh, just that. No worries then, ja? Here I thought it was something serious!

Kristoph: No, thank goodness. *He checks his watch yet again, and with a sigh forces himself to turn his attention to Klavier.* She's a strong girl. I'm sure she'll be just fine. Just fine.

Klavier: *Klavier tilts down his sunglasses, peering over them at Kristoph* Of course she will be. But what about you?

Kristoph: *Kristoph adjust his own glasses tensely.* What do you mean?

Klavier: You are... Fidgety. More than usual.

Kristoph: I am not "fidgety." *Kristoph shifts uncomfortably in his chair.* But it is surgery. I can't help but be...concerned.

Klavier: *Learning back, he grins a little. He can tell his brother is worried about the dog but that doesn't mean he can't tease him* Oh ja, there are so many things that could go wrong. I mean, what if her heart stops from the anesthetic or they botch the surgery and remove the wrong things, or... it gets infected afterwards?

Kristoph: *Kristoph tenses up again, and shoots his brother a strained look* Klavier please, why must you... *Suddenly he remembers, and his terse expression falters. For a brief moment he looks almost guilty before he's able to turn away.* ...Please don't tease.

Klavier: *He can't help but chuckle at Kristoph's reaction* She is going to be fine, Kris. *Klavier reaches over and pats his brother's leg* How much longer is she going to be in there?

Kristoph: *Kristoph frowns, trying to decide on an appropriate reaction, but Klavier seems so casual that he can't begin to approach the subject.* It shouldn't be much longer now.

Klavier: Good, I miss my girl! *Klavier looks over towards the doors leading deeper into the hospital* She is probably going to be pretty sleepy for the next few days.

Kristoph: Yes. I've already prepared her bed at home, with her favorite blanket, special kibble... *Kristoph takes a deep breath.* I suppose...you can come visit her during that time, if you like. As long as you're very gentle with her.

Klavier: *Klavier smiles* I will be. She is my favorite girl too, Kris.

Kristoph: Your favorite, hm? *Kristoph smirks back at him, unexpectly glad for the distraction.* More so than your pretty girlfriend?

Klavier: Well, maybe not my favorite girl... My favorite girl dog though. *Klavier grins* if I really had to pick an overall favorite though, it would be impossible... I mean, think of the guitars I would have to pick between!

Kristoph: Your guitars are...female? *Kristoph looks like he's trying to puzzle that out, but then the door to the back opens, and the veterinarian steps out. Kristoph quickly stands and moves to meet him.*

Klavier: *Klavier remains seated for a moment longer, looking over at his brother and the vet. The tiniest bit of worry creeps into the back of his mind and quickly he stands up, moving to stand next to Kristoph; wondering what the vet has to say*

Kristoph: *Kristoph notices his brother swiftly this time, and motions to him. With a nod, the vet holds the door open for them* He said we could visit her for a while now, and pick her up early tomorrow morning.

Klavier: *Klavier nods and moves into the room. It's an empty examination room cleared out especially for these sorts of visits. Vongole is lying on a towel on the floor, just starting to wake up as the anesthetic wears off. Her tail wags a little as she sees people coming over and Klavier drops down to his knees in front of her*

Klavier: *Klavier pets Vongole's head, playing gently with her ears* Schatziiiiii~ You are a sleepy girl, ja?

Kristoph: *Kristoph joins him, gently stroking Vongole with the backs of his fingers* Poor darling. You'll feel better soon. *Vongole turns her head towards him at the sound of his voice, and when he lifts his hand she gives it a lick. He smiles with relief* Good girl.

Klavier: *Klavier leans down and kisses Vongole's head* Rest up, pup. I will take you to chase seagulls down at the beach again when you are all better. You know, so you do not get too fat.

Kristoph: She's not going to get fat. *Kristoph shakes his head, but petting Vongole eases his irritation.* She's going to get plenty of rest and be comfortable and happy.

Klavier: Whatever you say, Kris. *Klavier grins, playing with Vongole's ears again* But you know you are just going to spoil her worse than ever when she gets home.

Kristoph: She's just been through surgery, I think she deserves a little spoiling. *He gives Vongole a gentle pat and then stands - now that he's seen she's doing all right, he doesn't want to linger long enough for his worries to resurface.* Let's leave her to her rest for now.

Klavier: *Klavier nods, rising up with Kristoph. Vongole's tail thumps against the floor a little as the brothers head towards the door. Klavier turns his head to look at her one last time, smiling* Bye Vongole, see you later pup~

Kristoph: *Kristoph leads the way out, and once they're in the waiting room once more and he's picked up his book again, he heaves a long sigh.* Good. She looked just fine. Didn't she?

Klavier: *Klavier looks at his brother for a moment, thinking carefully about whether or not to tease the man. Finally, he smiles, putting his hand on Kristoph's shoulder* She looks great. She will be back up and running around in no time.

Kristoph: Yes, you're right. *Kristoph is silent for a moment, trying not to look at Klavier as his mind wanders back those few weeks since they last saw each other. His brow furrows as he finally lets the words out.* I'm sorry.

Klavier: *Klavier is silent, his hand still on Kristoph's shoulder. He keeps smiling, his hand turning into a loose fist as he taps Kristoph's jaw with his knuckles* I should hit you for that... *he sighs* But I think forgiving you might be easier.

Kristoph: *Kristoph glances at him out of the corner of his eye. He doesn't trust that it can be that simple, but Klavier looks sincere. Trying to understand how Klavier does that is too frustrating for him, so instead of making the attempt, he only smiles.* Do you have anywhere you have to be?

Klavier: *Klavier shakes his head* Not until later tonight. Show down at the Gust -- not that that is anything new though.

Kristoph: Let me take you to... *Kristoph checks his watch and frowns - it's too early for dinner.* ...Coffee? *Deciding he ought to make a larger gesture, he winces.* Ice cream?

Klavier: *Klavier laughs, clapping his hand on his brother's shoulder* Sure, ice cream with sprinkles and a cherry on top. *he gives Kristoph's shoulder a light squeeze, smiling bright* Coffee will be fine Kris... As long as I can get some pecan pie too.
Kristoph: *He relaxes.* Yes, whatever you like. *He heads for the door.* There's a place nearby. We could even walk.

Klavier: Sounds great. *Klavier walks with his brother, opening the door for him* ... and maybe I will have ice cream with that pie.

Kristoph: A la mode is fine. *Kristoph steps outside. The fresh air reminds him of how long he's been waiting, and he stretches his stiff back.* I didn't know you liked pecans, though.

Klavier: *Klavier follows his brother, putting his hands in his pockets* I only like them in pie.

Kristoph: Fair enough. *With a slight shake of his head Kristoph leads the way down the sidewalk towards the nearby café.
