My home is destroyed..and there's a 85% chance my boyfriend drowned to death in the storm surge and flood waters. How was your day? I hope my Matthew is not dead..:[

Amd for those of you in new orleans..dude..my heart goes out...it really does. I just wished the eye didn't pass over my home..:[ Here's some stuff I've heard so far about here I live (slidell). The damage is so bad at this moment that we're not allowed to come back...and newscasters can't get footage..so wfere I live..is the only place that we haven't heard much on yet.

"The only information there is, is that Slidell in general got slammed. No media agencies are getting reports, but I do know that The Weather Channel had a reporter in Slidell on Gause blvd. The footage was absolutely horrible. Even large structures like the hospital received moderate-severe damage.

Several of TWC's reporters have had damage to their trucks though and they are contacting by phone."

"
OHH MY GOD!!! I just saw video from Slidell....absolutely the WORST footage I have seen of this hurricane...I am NOT KIDDING OR EXAGGERATING.

The Slidell Memorial Hospital was the only place that the reporter could find refuge and even IT was substantially damaged. Building are substantially damaged that could be seen from the hospital parking garage. The wind was so strong that the cars in the parking garage slid sideways! I have not seen footage like that except for Hugo or Camille. If you have people in Slidell be concerned. My mother, brother, and stepdad stayed behind in Slidell and I am two seconds from leaving Pittsburgh and going down there!

The Slidell footage was just shown on TWC, and I am searching their site to try and find it as we speak. Unfortunately, I didn't catch the name of the reporter in the footage because he was blown out of camera view right as taping began. If I find it, I'll post it. "

"There are lots of very scary rumors, but what I have actually seen about Slidell so far via a video from a WGNO reporter 10 minutes ago on WBRZ here in baton rouge:

vieable from i-12: many homes without roofs, bowling usa wall collapsed, mall like a lake, many trees down, covering i12

from gause: roof of days inn ripped off, telephone poles down.. cables everywhere, lots of trees down covering gause, not much flooding in that section of gause (within 1 mile of i10 exit), racetrac gas station destroyed, some trees had smashed through some cars... that was as far as she could get into. The town is mostly impassable still.

now from the web rumor mill: flooding in old towne, "total devastation" - city officials, pontchartrain like a river.. very much still developing."

"I've been searching the site for it in order to post it, but they haven't updated the site yet. It seems most of the reports being posted online are about 4 hours behind. The Slidell footage shown just came on about 30 minutes ago, and the footage was from 12:00 or so. How they got the footage there I don't know, but if their truck survived that'd be a surprise.

They showed the outside of the hospital with major damage on the corner with windows blown out and some structural damage. Several witnesses said that they saw buildings that were completely caved in. Even the cars in the parking garage were being slid sideways. The garage looked like a wind tunnel. The reporter couldn't even begin to stand up."

I live off gause blvd...wonderful..huh?
