Xeliac Test Pro is a new, rapid and reliable home diagnostic test to detect the presence of both IgA and IgG anti-transglutaminase (tTG) antibodies associated with coeliac disease.
Coeliac disease is a common condition affecting up to 1% of the UK population, but the symptoms can be non-specific and may be mistaken for other conditions such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), wheat intolerance or symptoms of stress. As a result coeliac disease is commonly under diagnosed and is serious problem. It is estimated that only 15% of people with the condition are ever diagnosed and studies have shown that on average it takes 13 years for an individual to be diagnosed with coeliac disease in the UK.
Xeliac Test Pro is designed to help in the diagnosis of coeliac disease and is unique in detecting the presence of both IgA and IgG antibodies to tTG, unlike other coeliac screening tests that only detect IgA antibodies. This is very important as IgA deficiency is more common in coeliac patients than normal. Coeliac patients who are IgA deficient will produce IgG antibodies instead. These patients will be detected by Xeliac Test Pro, but not by tests that only detect IgA antibodies.
The test is very easy to perform and takes just 5 minutes to complete. It requires a small finger prick blood sample that you take using a lancet provided in the kit. The blood sample is transferred to the Xeliac Test Pro test cassette using a micro-pipette provided and after the addition of three drops of buffer solution your result will be shown in 5 minutes. The test shows positive if you have IgA or IgG antibodies to tTG.
