Crazy day...

Dec 17, 2007 00:31

So today was just about the craziest day ever, today being Sunday, of course. So what if it is tomorrow already according to my clock. It doesn't count for me until I've gone to bed and woken up again. But I digress.

Despite the massive amounts of snow endangering the wonderful roads around my house (you have to love the township's treatment of the plowing and salting responsibilities: "Oh, look, snow." "So we should do something to make it safe for our citizens?" "You mean salt and plow? Hell no. We always wait at least a week before we do *that*"), my father and I ventured forth to Somerset for some Christmas shopping. While we were out, I received one of my presents early (the adorable Macbook upon which I am currently typing happily away). Needless to say, I'm pretty darn excited. Having a laptop opens so many new doors for me. Now I can go to coffee shops and steal wireless. I can carry my entire writing portfolio with me everywhere I go. I can watch the Mac commercials and laugh knowingly because now I too am a part of the secret Apple family.

My belated birthday brunch was cancelled because my uncle slipped a disk. =/

English Gardens was closed by the time we actually managed to get there. Stupid Sunday hours. So, we are still without a Christmas tree. It makes me a little sad inside. It's not truly December without the twinkle of multicolored lights and the fresh scent of pine and the annoying little needles that stick to the bottom of your socks no matter how many times a day you sweep them away. My father says that we're not going to get one until Christmas Eve again this year. A few years past, we did that. The lady behind the check out counter gave us the weirdest look and then intelligently exclaimed, "You must be German. Are you German?" Apparently, German people have a long-standing tree-buying tradition on Christmas Eve?

I made a lot of freaking cookies today too. Over two hundred bases for my mother's patented chocolate caramel monstrosities that are oh-so-delicious and over one hundred sandies. I'm still probably covered in powdered sugar.

The icing on the cake, however, just happened when I checked my MSU e-mail account. I haven't been checking it as often because I'm home now. Apparently, weeks ago when my final English paper was due, I sent the wrong draft. I had three sentences, the prompt and a few terribly stated notes. Grades are due in like two days. I could not find the finished draft anywhere. Finally, I thought to check my jump drive. It would not open. Apparently, it's broken. I finally figured out a way to get it to work long enough to save my paper to my hard drive. Thank goodness he is such an amazing teacher. I just resent it to him. Hopefully, I won't fail the class because of this stupid technological mixup.

I'm quite frustrated, stressed and still very panicked.

I want to sleep, but my freaking out brain won't let me.

Stress is supposed to be over!! It's the holiday break!
