There is a time and place for siblings to spend time together, but a school dance is not one of them. Allow the older sibling to have fun with her friends by herself.
I wonder if they're one of those families that have no concept of that? I had friends like that in high school, and to be honest even college (since for the first few years I went to a community college, so almost everyone lived at home). I was very family oriented growing up, I loved doing things with my parents and other relatives, but I also liked doing things with my friends, you know?

It really is. :/ I guess we can just hope they grow up? Because for all people claim that you become more conservative as you get older, I think the opposite can also be true, if you're brought up in a conservative family and start realizing how the world works. My dad has some pretty conservative views, and I carried them over (despite being pretty liberal in general) until I was really in a place to understand the flaws in those ideas.
but it's so bizarre because it's like um, you're of the minority that the people you're aligning with hate? Why are you agreeing with their ideologies? wtf? There's a lot to unpack with the why and how this has happened.
Yeah, I don't get that.
