I have an inkling that the idea of going to a bar or club to meet new people (and flirt drunkenly with the pretense of your nicest clothes and ‘slammin’ music) is slowly dying. Now, I could be called a cynic for this, or anti-social, but I really think it has started to fade for the younger generation. Mainly, I blame MySpace, because I hate MySpace. Rationally though, I blame/credit the Internet and social networking sites in general for this phenomenon. Now, I am not one for bars or clubs personally mainly due to my social ineptitude around new people and inability to dance, but I see this development as a plus for our society. Now instead of finding a datable person via two or three dances or 15 mins of conversation you can find them via an odd angle web cam shot or their taste in music or knowledge of how to manipulate an online journal layout to seem appealing (I still don’t get that one, but my younger brother got three girls from layout alone so consult your local geek).
Please don’t get me wrong, the idea of going out clubbing is not dead or weak in any town; meeting new people/hooking up is manifesting itself in totally different ways though, rather than solely being by way of the club. You can call me one of those who is finding alternatives to clubs or bars as well. The inability ot legally drink at these clubs does not have much influence over me though due to my innate skill to somehow acquire the drinks anyways without paying for them. I do not have any sort of personal bias against bars or clubs and have had nothing but positive experiences from them, butI have to predict that the clientele will be dwindling for these venues. Sorry folks.
(As a totally unrelated side note, someone has tried to break into the convenience store next door and the alarm is GODDAMN ANNOYING! DAMN POLIC AND SLOW ASS RESPONSE TIME!!)
((Another totally unrelated side note, I currently have a job at a hotel that has specialized me into the overnight audit shift of the hotel paperwork and receipts. I did not want to be in charge of the people on this shift, but somehow I now am. I hate it. I am close to my breaking point with these idiots they force me to train who won’t follow the super clear directions I have laid out for them, including when to take a bathroom break and watch tv, and am close to leaving these bitches. I’m sorry to the day staff of La Quinta, but the people you give me are RETARDED.))
