Veil must be thin or something

Several dreams the last couple or nights or so involving spirits I've known walking about like it's no big thing.
One involved my maternal grandfather, who showed up at a party, looking 45-50-ish (and he was 70 when I was born), just smiling and milling about at some house where there was a hot tub and lots of people having a good time. When I asked my mom about it, she whispered that no one had the heart to tell him he was dead.
The other one I remember was Puddy, coming into my bed for pets like he has a few other times since he died, looking like he did before his thyroid went south. In the dream, I was sure I was awake, and looked at...something as proof that I really was awake and he really was alive. (And whatever it was in the dream was not actually grounded in reality, I later realized.) At some point this enforced fade to black happened, and I remember being pissed off because it actually *was* a dream and Puddy really was dead. I was trying to stop the fade but it didn't listen to me at all, and then I was awake for real in my room.

*This* should be an interesting Samhain.

EDIT: Just talked to my mom (who is dealing with chemo pretty darn well, thank you), and lots of her extended family members have been on her mind and in her dreams as well. I'm not surprised.
