“Go, Frankie, go!” Max yelled to his lead dog. The snow flew up in his face as the sled dog team made a sharp turn around a rocky hill. Max shifted his weight to the left, so that he didn’t fall off his sled. He snapped his whip-never hitting the dogs, but the sound made them run faster. Max grinned to himself as the dogs started barking, pushing their tired bodies faster. They were nearing the finish line.
Jamie wasn’t far behind Max. His team was exhausted-he could tell. But Jamie continued to push them. He was sick of losing to Max. Sure, they were best friends, but with everything they did, Max always had to win. Jamie yelled for his team to run faster as the finish line came into view.
Max let out a scream of victory as his team passed the two tall branches that were sticking out of the snow. Jamie’s lead dog was at Max’s brush bow as they passed the line. The boy cursed as his team slowed and got tangled in each others tug lines. Jamie loosened his dogs’ necklines; grabbed a huge jug of water and a bowl out of his pack on his sled; took a sip of the water; and then poured the rest in the bowl for his dogs. He groaned before collapsing into the snow. Max did the same for his dogs before walking over to where Jamie was laying in the snow.
“Jeeze Jamie. You look as tired as the dogs,” Max laughed as he sat down next to his friend.
Jamie looked up at him and scowled. “I hate you.” he mumbled.
Max chuckled quietly. “No you don’t,” he whispered before leaning over his best friend. Max rolled onto Jamie, pressing his hands into the snow on either side of the other boy’s head. Max lowered his face, bringing his lips close to Jamie’s. Jamie’s breath caught as Max trailed his lips tenderly over his jaw. “You know you don’t hate me,” Max murmured against Jamie’s neck.
Max softly ran his mouth over the other boy’s, just before Jamie caught Max’s lips in a kiss. Max hummed into the kiss, and brought his hands down to Jamie’s waist as he arched off the snow. Max could feel Jamie’s excitement through his pants-Jamie was such a horny bastard. Max chuckled as he felt Jamie’s hand running down his chest and stomach, letting his fingers run along the top of Max’s pants.
“Fuck me…” Jamie breathed into Max’s mouth.
Max chuckled again, pulling his mouth away from Jamie’s. “Eager, are we?” he asked, slipping his hands inside Jamie’s jacket.
Jamie only nodded as he pressed his lips to Max’s neck, sucking the skin into his mouth. Max’s neck was a major turn on spot. He immediately ripped Jamie’s pants down, as well as his own, and without warning, slammed into the other boy. Jamie whined and cursed as Max filled him. Jamie dug his hands into the snow beneath him as Max pressed his lips to Jamie’s neck once more.
This wasn’t the first time the boys had had sex in the snow like this. The first time, the dogs thought Max was attacking Jamie and Jamie’s over protective lead dog Lina jumped on Max, clawing his coat and biting at him. Jamie got Lina under control-but only after she had bitten Max’s eyebrow, leaving a permanent scar. Although Jamie thought the scar was sexy, Max tried everything to get rid of it. The dogs had now grown used to the boys fucking after they raced-Lina always watching and growling every once in a while.
“Fuck, Max…har-ohhh, God,” Jamie moaned as Max pounded into him, hitting the boy just right.
Jamie pulled off his gloves, tangling his freed fingers in Max’s hair. He moaned as Max’s fingers dug into his hips, leaving little crescent shaped marks from his bitten-down fingernails.
Max grunted as he slammed into his boyfriend, loving the erotic sounds that were coming from his mouth. Max loved hearing Jamie moan. He loved the way the boy’s voice changed, and how he would curse more than usual. He reached for Jamie’s cock, sliding it through his hand. Jamie groaned as Max fucked him harder, tugging on his aching dick.
Lina began growling as she heard Jamie yell. She stood up from where she was and bared her teeth at the boys.
“Its okay girl…I’m alri-ohhh man…” Jamie moaned as he tried to comfort his dog. She sat back down, still growling quietly.
“Damn, Jamie…” Max groaned, leaning down to lay a sloppy kiss on Jamie’s mouth before he came inside of the boy. Max rode out his orgasm as Jamie came shortly after. Max collapsed on the boy, kissing him again. Jamie closed his eyes and chuckled into Max’s mouth, wrapping his arms around his neck.
“I love you,” Max murmured against Jamie’s lips.
Jamie looked up at his boyfriend. “I love you too,” he said as he brushed his fingers across Max’s face.
Lina walked over to where the boys were and sat down. Whining, she looked at Jamie’s face and nudged his cheek with her nose.
“I’m okay, Lina,” he rubbed her forehead. “I’m…” he looked back to Max. “…fucking fantastic,” he said with a smirk.
Max smiled and kissed Jamie’s nose. Lina looked Max in the eyes and growled quietly before walking back to the other dogs.
Max laughed. “She hates me.”
Jamie smiled. “No she doesn’t. She’s just…protective,” he said, running his fingers through his boyfriend’s hair. Max lowered his face to kiss Jamie again, closing his eyes and playfully sucking Jamie’s lower lip into his mouth. Jamie chuckled. “I’m cold,” he said, reaching for his gloves.
Max smiled before leaving Jamie’s body. He pulled up his pants, as well as Jamie’s, and stood up, stretching his arms. Jamie took advantage of Max’s outreaching arms by closing the small space between them, and snuggling himself into Max’s chest. Max closed his arms around the smaller boy, hugging him and inhaling his sweet scent. They kissed again before they headed back into the town.
A few weeks later, Jamie and Max were all ready for another overnight sled trip. The boys had their stuff packed on the sled; the dogs were secured in their tug lines; and they’d said good-bye to their families. Max and Jamie had had many trips like this, maybe twice a month. They knew the trails they could take, they knew the land, and they always knew what to expect.
They set off early on Saturday morning, hoping to get a good distance before noon. Max led the way most of the time, unless the boys decided to race. The dogs liked competing just as much as Max and Jamie did. Jamie’s lead dog and Max’s lead dog, Frankie, were brother and sister and they were always trying to beat each other.
Around noon, Max and Jamie took a break. They gave the dogs water, and had something to eat themselves. Max frowned and looked up at the graying sky.
“Looks like there might be a storm,” he said.
Jamie looked up as well. “Maybe. But it won’t be too bad,” he said as he re-laced his boots.
Max scoffed. “Yeah. It’ll probably just blow over.”
The dogs started barking, obviously wanting to run again. Jamie made sure his sled was secure and chuckled as Lina and Frankie tried to bite each other. Max laughed as well before he walked over to Jamie. Jamie stood and looked up at Max. Max smiled before placing his hands on either side of Jamie’s face.
“I love you,” he whispered, kissing Jamie’s lips sweetly. Jamie wrapped his gloved hands around Max’s wrists.
“I love you too,” he said breaking the kiss and looking into Max’s deep brown eyes. Max smiled and kissed the boy’s forehead.
Lina whined and nudged Jamie’s leg with her paw. Jamie chuckled.
“Okay girl, we can go now.” He walked away from Max, placing himself on the runners of his sled. Max did the same just as Jamie’s team sped off, flinging snow up into Max’s face.
“Hey! Not nice!” Max shouted after Jamie. He heard his boyfriend laugh before he yelled for his team to go.
Within a half hour, heavy snow started to fall. The dogs slowed down, unable to see very well in the falling powder. Jamie was worried-he couldn’t see Max or his team in the blinding snow.
“Max!” he yelled. He heard no reply. “MAX!” he shouted again as he stopped his sled.
“Jamie!” he heard the other boy yell. He sounded so far away.
“Where are you?” Jamie yelled. He searched frantically, trying to see where Max was.
“Don’t move!” Max yelled. He stopped his sled as well, grabbed a rope from his bag, tied it to his sled and began walking towards the sound of Jamie’s voice. He heard Jamie yell again before he found him.
“Are you okay?” he said, wrapping an arm around Jamie’s neck.
Jamie nodded. “Just kinda cold…” he replied. Max tied the rope around Jamie’s handlebar.
“What are you doing?” Jamie asked.
Max tied a triple knot before looking to the other boy. “In case you haven’t noticed…it’s snowing like crazy…and I don’t really feel like losing you,” he said.
Jamie nodded again before Max closed the gap between them, kissing the boy’s lips softly. Jamie smiled when Max pulled away. Jamie and his dogs followed Max back to where his team was. Both boys got on their sleds, and the dogs started walking slowly. The wind and the snow were violent against their faces.
“Max, where are we?” Jamie yelled over the howl of the wind. They kept their sleds close together, but it was still difficult to see and hear each other.
“I…I don’t know. I think we should go back home…” Max said. Jamie agreed and they turned their sleds around, walking in the opposite direction.
An hour later, neither boy had any idea where they were. The sky was dark, the snow continued falling and the wind was harsher than ever. The boys were freezing as the bitter cold stung their faces. The dogs were whining-they were cold and tired too.
“Max, I think we should stop. There’s no way we’re getting home tonight…” Jamie yelled.
Max tried looking around. Jamie was right. It would be nearly impossible for them to make it home in the weather. But there weren’t any trees or cliffs or anything that they could seek shelter from.
Suddenly, Max’s sled started to go a bit faster, “Whoa, stop!” he called to his dogs, but they seemed to ignore him as his sled continued to pick up speed. He took his foot off the runner, attempting to dig his heal into the snow to stop the team. His heal slipped and he almost lost his balance. The dogs weren’t running…they were slipping down a hill of ice! His dogs started barking as the back of Max’s sled turned around and went speeding passed them.
“Jamie!!” Max screamed as the rope connected to his sled handle tightened. His sled stopped abruptly, giving Max slight whiplash. His dogs whined as they fell down in front of the sled, trying to walk up the hill-scraping their paws uselessly against the ice.
“Max!!” Jamie yelled. He panicked as Max’s sled slid down the frozen slope. Jamie’s sled began to fall after Max’s. Luckily, his runner caught onto a rock or something, stopping the sled, and pulling on the rope. Jamie stared wide-eyed behind him at the runner. He looked back down the slope towards the rope and his dogs.
“Are you okay?!” he screamed to Max.
Before Max had a chance to answer, Jamie’s runner slid off the rock, flinging him, the dogs, and Max down the rest of the cliff.
Everything seemed to go in slow motion from there. Jamie and Max’s sleds slid down the slope; colliding with large rocks and each other. The dogs howled and whined and scraped their claws against the ice. Jamie yelled Max’s name just as the icy bottom of the cliff connected with the dogs, the sleds and the boys.
Max lifted his face from the frozen ground. His body was sore and his mouth was bleeding-the metallic taste was heavy on his tongue. He sat up slowly, opening his eyes and looking around. It took Max a second before his head cleared and he realized what had happened. He gasped, quickly turning his head side to side, frantically searching for Jamie. He stood up and stumbled around the snow covered ground, looking for his friend. He found him, and quickly kneeled down in front of Jamie’s unmoving body.
“Jamie!!” Max shouted, nudging the boy. He pushed gently on his side, rolling him over. Jamie’s hat was gone, his scarf was ripped, and there was a cut along his cheek. Several of the dogs started to howl, searching for the others. Lina walked over to where Max and Jamie were. She whined and licked Jamie’s cheek.
“Jamie…Jamie baby! Wake up!” Max yelled, shaking the boy’s shoulders. Tears welled up in Max’s eyes as the shaking did nothing. He put his face to Jamie’s chest. “Please, Jamie,” he cried, “please wake up.”
Jamie groaned before his eyes fluttered open. Max looked at his boyfriend’s face, before wiping the tears from his own. Lina let out a happy bark as Jamie’s eyes opened.
“Oh my God, Jamie,” Max said, clutching Jamie’s jacket. “Are you alright?” he asked worriedly.
Jamie groaned again. He tried to lift his head, only to let it fall back onto the snow. “No…my leg…hurts so much…” he stuttered. Lina whined again, hearing the pain in Jamie’s voice. “Where are the dogs?” Jamie asked. “Are they okay?”
Max exhaled. “I don’t know…I didn’t look yet…”
“Lina…go find everyone,” Jamie said pointing in no direction in particular. Lina seemed to understand-she trotted off.
Max scooted down to Jamie’s lower half. “Which leg, baby?” he asked.
“Left,” Jamie whispered.
Max gently pushed his hands along the boy’s leg. Jamie shouted in pain, squeezing his eyes shut. Max winced hearing Jamie’s voice. His leg was definitely broken. Max looked around quickly, squinting his eyes, trying to see where the sleds were. There was a first aid kit in on both sleds, and he thought that there might be something in it to help Jamie’s leg.
“It hurts, Max,” Jamie whimpered.
Max breathed out heavily. “I know, baby, I know.” Max looked around again. “Frankie!” he called. His lead dog briskly trotted over to the boys. “Frankie, stay here with Jamie,” Max said. Frankie laid down next to Jamie, resting his head on the boy’s stomach. “Good boy,” Max said.
“Where are you going?” Jamie asked.
Max kissed Jamie’s forehead. “I’m gunna go find the sleds and the other dogs. I love you,” he said before he got up.
“I love you too,” Jamie whispered as Max walked away. Three more of the dogs walked over to Jamie. Whining, they laid next to him.
Max walked through the blowing powder for a few minutes before he found one of the sleds. It was in terrible condition. All the tug and neck lines were torn, the runners were broken off, the handle bar had a split in it and the pack that was supposed to be attached to it was missing. Max picked up the broken pieces of wood, put them on the body of the sled, and pushed it back to where Jamie was. When Max got back about ten minutes later, he saw that all of the dogs were surrounding Jamie. He knelt down next to his boyfriend, resting his hand on his hair. Max removed his own hat, pulling it over Jamie’s ears.
“Where’s Lina?” Jamie asked, obviously noticing that his lead wasn’t there.
Max looked around. “Lina!” he shouted. Frankie lifted his head from Jamie’s stomach and started barking.
Lina came walking back, the large duffle bag in her mouth.
Max grinned. “Oh, good girl!” he said, hesitantly petting her head. Lina let out a quiet growl, but allowed Max to touch her. Max opened the bag as Lina curled herself up around Jamie’s head. She whined and nuzzled him. Max pulled two blankets out of the bag and wrapped them around Jamie. He searched through the rest of the bag, only finding a flashlight and a box of matches. Max closed his eyes and groaned. What were they going to do? Max had no idea where they were. He looked down at Jamie who was obviously in pain. His eyes were tightly shut and his hands were balled into fists. The dogs were cold and whining. Maybe they could go a little further and find the other sled. It might be in better condition. Max told Jamie the plan and helped him onto the sled, wrapping the blankets tightly around him. Max quickly fixed the neck and tug lines, tying them together. He put the strongest four dogs in the line up-letting Lina walk beside the sled body so she could stay close to Jamie. The other three dogs walked along the sled. Max settled himself on the broken runners, and told the dogs to go.
Within an hour, it was dark and the three dogs that were loose-except Lina-ran off-perhaps sensing a way to shelter. One of the neck lines came loose and that dog ran off as well. Max called for the dogs, but they didn’t come back.
They never found the other sled. There were still no trees or rocks to seek safety from. The cliff that they’d fallen down wasn’t enough to keep away the harsh snow and wind.
The dogs stopped, unable to go any further. Max let the three that were left in the line up out of their necklines. They whined and laid down near the sled. Lina rested her head against Jamie’s shoulder.
“Max...maybe we should burn the sled…we have to start a fire or something. I’m freezing.” Jamie said. Max nodded before he helped Jamie off the sled and onto the cold ground. He wrapped the boy in the blankets. The dogs surrounded Jamie, knowing that he was cold. Lina scooted herself underneath Jamie’s arm.
Max contemplated burning the sled. If he did that, there would be no way to go anywhere else. He could burn the tug lines and rope…but that wouldn’t last long. He looked up at the sky. The bitter snow continued to fall, stinging Max’s face. He fumbled around for the duffle bag with the matches, finding them and striking one. He tried lighting a piece of rope, but it only stayed lit for about a minute. He tried to light various parts of the sled, but it wouldn’t catch fire. The duffle bag wouldn’t even light. Everything was just too cold.
Frankie whined and nudged Max’s arm. He wrapped his arm around the dog’s neck, hugging him. Max loved his dog. And he prayed that the ones that ran away were safe. He knew they would be. They would find somewhere to stay warm and something to eat. Sled dogs always knew how to stay alive.
Lina howled as Jamie whimpered. He was freezing. Lina kept tugging on his jacket and nudging his face. Jamie rubbed his dogs head. “I know, girl, I’m cold too,” he said.
Max let out a shaky breath before kneeling down next to Jamie. He pressed his forehead against the boy’s and closed his eyes.
“I’m so sorry, Jamie,” Max murmured. Jamie bit his lip and closed his eyes, nuzzling his nose against Max’s.
The dogs started barking-two of them getting up and running away. Lina stood up as well. She rubbed her nose against her brother’s shoulder. Frankie licked her forehead and whined. Jamie started crying. He didn’t have any tears, but he sobbed.
“Go, guys. Run and find the others. You’ll make it,” he said to the dogs. Frankie and Lina understood. Frankie whined as Lina nuzzled Jamie’s face. Frankie licked Max’s chin. Jamie pet Lina one last time before the dogs took off running.
Max laid next to Jamie, wrapping his arms around the smaller boy’s waist. Jamie wrapped his arms around Max’s neck, pressing his face to the boy’s chest.
Jamie sniffed. “We’re gunna die,” he mumbled. Max sighed before nodding slowly. Jamie felt Max nod and let out a quick sob. “I love you,” Jamie whispered. At least his leg didn’t hurt anymore. Both were numb.
“I love you too, Jamie,” Max said to his best friend. Max held Jamie closer, pressing one last kiss to his forehead before both boys drifted into a hypothermic sleep.
A/N 2:So, I know I'm not the best writer, and there are probably a million typos and grammar problems with it...I didn't use a beta because I'm not sure how to yet? Ahaha. And I know that this is pretty cliche...most of my stories are.
I stole the falling part from Balto. xDD
