Harry Potter + John Connor? Beware of evil plot bunnies...
You will notice I've changed my user-pic. For two reasons, actually. One, the pic I was using before was in anticipation of the 6th Harry Potter movie, which was supposed to be released in November. Disappointed, I was, to learn it will now not be released to theatres until July 17 of next year! Grrrr...
For the second, and more important reason, it's the inspiration that's come from a little plot bunny that has managed to escape its cage. It stems from my digging to find a face that would fit Travis' character (from " Canadian Intervention"). I settled on Thomas Dekker, who of course, plays John Connor (pictured left) in Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles.
Now... a little back story... I am definitely a fan of the 'Terminator' universe, considering it is one of our greatest fears, machines running the world and all-- or worse, trying to exterminate us. I've never written any fanfiction for the Terminator universe, although now, the temptation is very much there to jump head-first into those waters.
So with that said, I got to thinking about the parallels between John and Harry. At the end of "Order of the Phoenix", Harry is almost 16. John, is also (at least in "Sarah Connor Chronicles"), almost, or just turned 16. Now. Both should be ordinary kids, doing ordinary things. Instead, both are saddled with... well, what seems like the weight of the world. They both have incredible expectations placed on their shoulders, and have little time for the pleasantries of growing up. Both have terrifying enemies that are out for their blood, and will stop at nothing to succeed.
So now let's give it a twist. Both being teenagers... what would happen if they were somehow able to meet? I mean, at the end of "OOtP", Harry went ballistic, destroying a number of items in Dumbledore's office. He literally screamed 'I WANT OUT'.
From what I've been able to glean from episodes of SCC, John feels the same way, and most definitely it would be understandable. So again... if they were somehow able to meet, what mayhem might result? I mean, with Harry around, John might have a better chance against the Terminators (I mean, a Fidelius charm comes to mind right off the hop, right?). And if Harry truly did decide to say 'F-you' to the wizarding world, he could certainly do it.
Now, let's not leave out the antagonists from both worlds. What if Voldemort and Skynet somehow connected? I mean, muggle machine might not be his cuppa, but... what if Voldemort's spirit gave Skynet its 'soul', or 'self-awareness'? Ah, the possibilites...
So there just might be an interesting and twisted crossover coming from yours truly in the near future. I mean, time travel, dimension hopping, and a couple of teens rebelling against their 'responsibilities'? Sounds juicy to me... *insert insane laughter here*
