It's been a while

Well, here I am, writing. I have been a bit of a slacker in the journal department, over the past two months. I don't really know what happened. I guess I've just been so busy - work, studying, master's project, hanging out with people - that I haven't had time to sit down and write.

But now I am in a new rotation, my family practice one. It's 12 weeks long, and I'm staying with the doctor and his family! I won't write too much about all of it, because I don't want to bore people with ramblings about work and whatnot. It's funny, though, because you would think that by the seventh rotation, I'd be used to starting all of this all over again. True, I don't get nervous at the beginning of rotations anymore. I am comfortable being in offices and hospitals. I have a general knowledge base and I do know some things. But still, there are things I forget to ask patients. Labs I forget to order. Medications that I can't remember the names of, or don't know what they do. I don't know the names of the office staff members, don't know where things belong.
But I will learn. By the end of these three months, I'll be comfortable. I'll know what I'm doing.

Things are shaping up to go to Africa. I need to buy my plane tickets and get my shots and the Zambian visa. It's going to cost a lot more than I originally thought to fly there, but it'll be worth it. I can't wait to go! I'm so excited. Not so excited about malaria prophylaxis and the TB that is prevalent down there, but that's ok. I'll survive. ;o)

Well, I guess I'll go do Pilates now. I got 3 tapes from a friend, and I'm hoping I can actually build some muscle tone. hehe. I'll be updating more often now. :o)
