I got a call from from the nurse at the kids new school to say that there's a problem with my 5 year old's immunisation. In Texas the MMR vaccine has to be given when a child is 12 months or older, and they have a four day grace period, so you could get it done no earlier than four days before the first birthday. In Aus there is a two week grace period and I had the 5 year old immunised 8 days before his first birthday.
Which means it's not recognised over here. They want him to get it done again.
And I am so freaking annoyed.
I'm not a big fan of immunisations. I got it done because it's a preventative measure and I didn't want the kids dying because they weren't immunised. But it's introducing foreign matter into the kids systems and I'm really not comfortable with that. And I sure as hell am not comfortable with getting the five year old vaccinated just for the hell of it. He's had the required dosages. Just not in the time frames required by this state.
Bloody ridiculous!
