One week on...

Move to Reading went very smooth, and we're mostly (thanks to Tamsin's incomparable efforts) settled in. The furniture's built, boxes and rubbish thrown out (three trips to the council tip so far), and almost everything has a home. We need to buy one or two small items of furniture to finish it off, but a quick trip to Ikea will solve that.

We're enjoying it here. The house is lovely, the town is very pretty, shopping and food are excellent. Clubbing is a little slight, but we've found a couple of rock nights that seem okay and will be dragging the Oxford crowd down for a night out at a handy point. The CP guys were in town over the weekend and took us to the very strange After Dark, which was okay too, if very crowded.

My commute works out at about an hour and a quarter. It's a little less that twenty minutes' walk to Reading Station, fast trains take about half an hour, and then one tube ride and a short walk in London takes about 25 minutes. Not bad at all; I was expecting worse.

Glad we're here.
