Being a reporter was never very high on my list of aspirations, but I'm starting to get the impression that I'm not SUPPOSED to be one. Things just aren't going right.
Today was our first Sigma Tau Delta meeting of the year, and I've got to say, I'm pretty proud of myself.
I was so worried, because last year we had two people show up to our first meeting for the first semester and three for the second. We started this year with 5 official members, and only 4 that could actually attend meetings.
Not good, to say the least.
So I sat at Mainstage and got people to sign up for emails, put fliers in every English professor's mailbox, and put flyers up around Spach.
I asked our treasurer to order the pizza, we figured we'd order 4 just in case.
And all day yesterday and today I was terrified that we'd only have two people show up, so we'd wind up with 3 extra pizzas and have another depressing and disappointing year.
But at 6:30, people started coming in and they kept coming and coming, and pretty soon, we didn't have any open chairs. We had TWENTY FIVE people come!!!
And we had just the right amount of pizza. :P
I am so excited for this year, now. Even if some people decide not to join, we'll still have a very decent turn out, and maybe we can actually accomplish some things this year! Most everyone was very enthusiastic about joining and getting involved.
I have a very good feeling about this group.
