The Bight trip. Day 15

20110429 Friday.
There is lots of things to do and festivals going on in the Barossa area. You could stay there for 2 week. Just like in the Flinders. Funny story about Seppeltsfield who kept his workers during the depression and as thank you they planted hundreds of palms along many roads. Another about the Herbig family. It’s a little bit of fooling you because it says the wife hade 16 kids and they lived in a tree. They did live in a tree while she had her first two but then they managed to build a house.
8.45 leaving Angaston. A driving. On to the Sturt Hwy just going home this time. We’ll have Sunday to settle down and catch our breath.
10.00 fuel in Waikerie. Had to drive into the little town. Quite a bit and then on the way out there was a gasstation on the Sturt Hwy. What a gyp and we were really low on gas.
12.30 lunch in Mildura at the Ornamental Lakes park. Sandwiches.
13.23 toward Hay. Switched drivers and M driving now. Sturt Hwy/A20 to Euston, Balranald (Sturt Hwy/20) Last time we drove this way it was very very dry. Now it was lush green everywhere.
17.00 Hay (good old Hay) and almost empty again. Staying at Saltbush Motor Inn to save time and to watch Will and Kate getting married on TV.
We searched for restaurants but they all opened at 6 so we bought some fish and chips in a small shop and they were not very good. Probably thawed frozen fish. C’mon - murray cod?? Anyway got some chips and stuff to have in front of the TV and well they got married.

Roads: Sturt Hwy straight to Hay.
