In May 2007 Alexander Downer the Australian Minister for Foreign affairs signed an order that changed the policies of the Australian passport office concerning the issuing of passports to members of the trans community. As I'm a T-Girl (my surgery was in Thailand) I don't know if it's for me to say.

Surely choice is everything in the matter, but how can you make an informed choice if obstacles are put your way, like an expectation of being 'strip searched' through customs because of suspicions raised by mismatching passports?

I'm not disagreeing with you at all that it's a despicable state of affairs, I'm just trying to think of my options when I actually have the money.

Then you do have a problem. It's very hard to get an unbiased opinion about surgeons. In general their previous patients either praise them to high heaven or damn them to hell - seldom any middle ground.
